TextMate can be used to edit plain text and other types of data, but also allows you to process and highlight syntax for a large collection of scripting languages, such as Apache, Apple Script, C, C++, CSS, Diff, Git, HTML, javascript, JSON, Lua, Objective-C, PHP, Python, Ruby, and more.

The application is using powerful search tools (the “grep” command) and robust macros or snippets in order to help you automize repetitive tasks. The best part is that you get to record your own macros.
